Anthropic unveils Claude Tag, a collaborative tool designed to enhance team workflows. This beta feature initially integrates with Slack for Enterprise and Team subscription users.
The AI assistant joins Slack channels as a team member, accessing selected channels and connecting to tools, data, or codebases. Users can tag @Claude in channels to delegate tasks, with the AI retaining contextual information and planning future actions.
According to Anthropic, "Claude builds context by remembering relevant information from the channels it’s in and can plan out tasks to complete in the future."
The company positions this as an evolution of its earlier Claude Code functionality.
Key Capabilities and Internal Development
Claude Tag provides teams with shared access to a unified AI version that learns over time. Key features include:
- Proactive operation with ambient behavior settings activated
- Scheduled task automation
- Cross-channel collaboration
This tool has been tested internally at Anthropic before its public release. The company emphasizes its ability to handle complex workflows while users focus on other priorities.
Replacement of Legacy Slack Integration
Existing Claude in Slack functionality will be discontinued on August 3. Anthropic encourages users to transition to the new Tag system, which offers expanded capabilities compared to the outgoing tool.
